IPL Hair Reduction
Targets deeper layers of tissue to tighten and regenerate collagen and elastin
Treatment Details
IPL Hair Reduction uses controlled pulses of light that are absorbed by melanin—the pigment within the hair that gives it colour. This light energy is converted into heat which travels down the hair shaft, damaging the stem cells at the base and reducing its ability to produce new hair. Because IPL targets pigment, it is most effective on darker, coarser hairs rather than blonde, grey, white, red or fine vellus (“peach fuzz”) hairs. Hair grows in cycles, and IPL can only effectively target follicles during the Anagen (active growth) phase when its attached to the hair bulb. For this reason, a course of approximately 6–8 treatments is most common, with treatment intervals and number of sessions tailored to the area being treated. An average long-term hair clearance of around 75–85% is achieved, which most clients find very satisfying. Any remaining hair is typically finer, lighter and slower growing, although occasional maintenance treatments may be required. *Results vary according to hair colour, hair thickness, skin type, treatment area and hormonal influences. A consultation is required to assess suitability.*
