IPL Pigmentation

Lightens and removes brown spots and dark marks

Treatment Details

IPL Pigmentation uses advanced DPL (Dual Pulsed Light) technology with selective wavelengths of light to precisely target excess melanin within the skin. The light energy is selectively absorbed by excess brown melanin, where it converts to heat and causes controlled damage to the concentrated pigment and the superficial cells containing it. The treated pigment initially darkens, forms tiny coffee-ground-like microcrusts and is naturally shed as the skin renews over the following 7–14 days. The damaged pigment cells can also be excreted via the lymphatic system. It can help improve the appearance of sunspots, freckles, age spots and uneven pigmentation, creating a clearer and more even-looking complexion. If we have both brown and red discoloration, the browns are treated first with IPL Pigmentation and then the reds second with IPL Vascular. A course of approximately 2-4 treatments at 4 week intervals is required, depending on the type, depth and cause of pigmentation, with progressive clearance becoming visible after each session. IPL Pigmentation is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV following a thorough consultation and assessment. Not all pigmentation is suitable for this treatment: Treatable: Sunspots, freckles, age spots and uneven pigmentation, Solar Lentigos Not suitable: Melasma, birthmarks and Solar/Actinic Keratosis
